I still remember the drive from Brooklyn to Long Island as if it were yesterday. Instead of sitting in the passenger seat, I climbed into the back of his work van and spent the ride organizing his tools. When we arrived, he opened the back doors and said, “I haven’t seen my van this clean in years.”

From the moment we stepped onto the job site, I couldn’t get enough. I was excited, motivated, and eager to learn every detail of the trade. Before my uncle could even ask for a tool, I was already handing it to him. I wasn’t just working—I had found something I genuinely loved.

After graduating high school, I was determined to build a career in construction. Using nothing more than a PennySaver newspaper, I began calling contractors looking for someone willing to give a young man an opportunity. One contractor did.

Over the next several years, I worked alongside experienced craftsmen, learning nearly every aspect of residential remodeling—from kitchens and bathrooms to flooring, drywall, painting, trim, doors, windows, siding, roofing, and complete home renovations. As I continued working for different contractors, I not only learned the right way to build a home, but I also witnessed the wrong way to treat customers.

I saw shortcuts being taken.

I saw promises being broken.

I saw homeowners left frustrated because they weren’t treated with the honesty and respect they deserved.

Those experiences shaped the foundation of the company I dreamed of building.

I wanted to create a company where integrity came before profit, where quality was never sacrificed, where communication was honest, and where customers could feel confident knowing their home was in good hands.

On June 27, 2013, I walked into the Town of Poughkeepsie and officially registered my business.

Choosing the company name wasn’t complicated. While walking through Home Depot one day, I noticed a brand name that made me think about my own childhood nickname—“ESCO.” It was simple, memorable, and represented me. Combined with the work I loved, ESCO Home Improvements was born.

The first couple of years were slow. Like many small business owners, I wore every hat imaginable—salesman, estimator, laborer, project manager, and customer service representative. I spent countless hours continuing to educate myself, improving my craft, and learning how to better serve homeowners.

Little by little, the company began to grow.

By 2017, ESCO Home Improvements had gained momentum, expanded its team, and built a reputation based largely on referrals and satisfied customers. Today, we proudly continue serving homeowners throughout the Hudson Valley with a dedicated team committed to quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service.
